How are these awards constructed out of recycled material?
Cast stone products are made using recycled marble and granite dust. Stone particles and dust are collected from quarries and stone manufacturing facilities from around the country. The waste stone that is generated while making countertops, floor tiles, etc. is ground up into a fine powder. This powder is mixed with a little bit of resin and pigment to become a slurry mix which is poured into silicone molds that consist of approximately 50%-60% recycled silicone. The stone slurry sets up hard as a rock and is then removed from the mold. If the piece does not meet the standard of excellence it will be pulverized back into a powder and used as filler in the next batch. Each piece is made up of about 70%-80% stone dust.
The packaging materials used are also recycled. The production facility is a few miles down the road from a recycled paper plant. When there is a surplus paper or waste paper it is sent to be used as packing materials. All the boxes and packaging materials are 90%-100% recycled.
